Dear Parents and Guardians,

I am sending out the update today because of the coming winter weather for tomorrow.

This past Wednesday the Wakelee Band performed during the day for the student body and in the evening for families. I am proud of the hard work and time dedication of the band to achieve the level of performance in such a short span of time. Many first year members of the band have only been playing the instrument for the past five months. Thank you to Mr. Fontaine for all the time you give, allowing instrumental music to continue to be a part of the student experience here at Wakelee.

Officer Spiotti has been working with the fifth grade students, bringing the DARE curriculum to students. He will also be visiting fourth graders to begin a rapport with students and talk about respect, tolerance and acceptance. He has been staying to eat lunch with students too. I would like to thank him for making himself available to students in a more informal way.

Our art show is approaching very quickly! Please save the date, April 5th, for our celebration. We are conducting the show in the same manner as last year with your child’s work framed and on display the night of the show.  Please print out the “Save the Date” attachment. There will be other information to follow as our date gets closer. Looking forward to a wonderful celebration of our students’ talent.

Dates to Remember:

·         Monday, March 13th Spirit Stick Sale

·         Tuesday, March 14th Marking Period 2 Closes

·         Tuesday, March 14th Grade 5 CT Science Center field trip

·         Thursday, March 16th Grade 4 and 5 Freedom Train field trip

Enjoy the weekend!

Deborah Osvald
