Mr. Putter and Tabby Hit the Slope by Cynthia Rylant (ideal for grades K-2)

Mr. Putter and his fine cat, Tabby, like winter. But even a cozy winter day can be a little slow sometimes. Not for long! When Mrs. Teaberry and her good dog, Zeke, pull two sleds out of the garage, the four friends head for the sledding slope. Maybe winter is not so slow after all!

Blizzard by John Rocco (ideal for all ages)

One winter day in 1978, it started to snow and it did not stop. At first it was fun. But four days later, the snowplows still hadn’t come, cabin fever was setting in, and rations were running low. Someone had to take action. Will an intrepid boy be able to triumph over a fearsome blizzard?

The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe by C.S. Lewis (grades 2-5)

A magical land full of wonder and excitement. A place where you will meet Aslan, the bravest of lions, and a beautiful but wicked Witch. There are lots of other fabulous creatures too: giants and dwarfs and animals that talk. It all begins when four children - Peter, Susan, Edmund and Lucy - discover a strange old wardrobe. Stepping inside, they find it’s stranger still, because behind all of the fur coats there is a wondrous land of trees and mountains, all glistening with snow. The White Witch has spread icy winter everywhere. Only Aslan can defeat her and reverse her wicked spell. The children must find the lion before it is too late. If they fail, the Witch will make them her prisoners forever.
